Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle Unescorted, with Timed Entry
Two palaces in one day without a guide attached to you. The tour is unescorted: a representative gets you into Buckingham Palace, and after that you keep your own time. Meet the Golden Tours representative from 9:45am outside the King's Gallery in Victoria, a five minute walk from the palace. Entry is on a special timed slot with an audio guide. Buckingham Palace has been the official residence of Britain's sovereigns since 1837 and the State Rooms open for just eight weeks a year: the ballroom, the throne room, the rooms the King uses for official entertaining, and a walk through the South Garden at the end. By 12.45pm make your own way to Bulleid Way in Victoria for the Windsor coach, which leaves at 1:00pm. Windsor Castle then gets an extended visit, with audio guides in several languages on arrival. The castle dates back to Norman times and sits on a wooded hill above the Thames, with landscaped gardens and the turreted Round Tower. Inside are the State Apartments, hung with priceless work by Rembrandt and Leonardo da Vinci, and St George's Chapel, where Henry VIII and other former monarchs are buried; the chapel is closed on Sundays. Queen Mary's Dolls' House is on the same visit, and everything in it works: the lifts, the running water, the electricity, down to miniature bottles of wine. The day finishes at about 5:30pm in Kensington, at Gloucester Road Underground Station.

- You must meet the Golden Tours representative outside King's Gallery to be able to enter Buckingham Palace.
- To join the Windsor Castle tour you must go to Bus Stop 1 Bulleid Way in Victoria.
- St. George’s Chapel is also closed to visitors on Sundays as services are held throughout the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend the services.
- During peak periods, additional vehicles without Wi-Fi may be used.
- Buckingham Palace tickets purchased from Golden Tours cannot be converted into a 1-Year Pass.
- For safety reasons, pushchairs are not permitted in the State Rooms. They must be checked in and reclaimed at the exit. Baby-carriers are available for loan.
- A one-way system operates along the entire visitor route for safety reasons.
