Walking the Popes' Escape Passage with a Guide, Away from the Crowds

The Passetto di Borgo is the passage that links the Vatican to Castel Sant'Angelo, and popes used it to get out when they were in danger. It is now open, and this is the guided walk along it. Walking it changes what you see of both ends. The Vatican and the castle look different from a corridor built to move a man between them quickly and unseen, and the guide fills in the history as you go. The route takes in areas that stay clear of the usual crowds. One thing to weigh before booking: this ticket cannot be cancelled or refunded.
