Royal Palace and Prado in One Day, Running from Four People Up

The Royal Palace comes first, one of the biggest palaces in Europe, walked room by room with the history attached. The walk between the two is not filler. It crosses the old town through the Plaza de la Villa, the Plaza Mayor and the Puerta del Sol, then down past the Congress of Deputies, which puts a working parliament between a royal palace and a national gallery in the space of a couple of kilometres. That is roughly the shape of modern Spanish history, walked in order. The Prado closes the day. Velázquez, Goya, Murillo, Rubens and Titian, with a guide to explain why these particular paintings ended up in one building: they were the Spanish crown's private collection before they were a museum. One condition to note: the tour needs a minimum of four people to operate. If the booking does not reach that number, it does not run.
