The Largest Private Collection in Rome, Still Owned by the Same Family

Roman Baroque seen in the house it was collected for, on a private tour of the Doria Pamphilj gallery and palace. The building is still owned and run by the Doria Pamphilj, the princely Roman family whose name it carries, and the collection inside it is the largest in Rome still in private hands. That ownership is what you are looking at as much as the pictures: nothing has been moved to a museum, so the paintings stay where the family hung them. The first part of the tour takes in the family chapel, the Saletta Gialla and the Saletta Rossa, the Sala del Poussin, and the main painting galleries.
