Alhambra Two Ways: Full Visit with Ticket, or Two Hours Outside the Walls
Ratings collected by Viator and Tripadvisor
GranadaOne booking, two different days, and which one you pick depends on whether tickets are still available. The complete option is a three-hour walking tour with skip-the-line access and a professional local guide, and it comes with the Alhambra ticket guaranteed. That last point is the one that matters: entry to the Nasrid Palaces is capped and timed, and in high season the official site sells out weeks ahead. Inside, the route covers the Moorish architecture of the Nasrid Palaces and how the sultans actually lived in them, and takes in the Generalife Gardens. The other option is around two hours and does not include admission to the Alhambra. It stays outside the ticketed area, with a guide, and covers the Alhambra Forest, the Gate of Justice, the Plaza of the Cisterns and the Palace of Charles V. That is more than it sounds like: the Palace of Charles V is free to enter, the forest is the approach the sultans used, and the gate is where the whole argument between Moorish and Christian Granada is written in stone. Check in inside the office at the meeting point, not outside it.

The Alhambra
On the option that includes it, the Alhambra itself. The complex sits high on the hill above the city and started as a fortress at the beginning of the 13th century, then one Spanish ruler after another made it home. Priority access means no queue, and the guide walks the site with the group. It is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside the Hall of the Abencerrajes, look up at the star-shaped dome, and hear the story of the massacre said to have happened here at a 15th-century banquet. After the palaces, the Generalife Gardens, where the sultans and Moorish kings went to get away from them.
