The Beethoven Frieze Is the One Work of His That Surrounds You
Klimt is spread across three buildings in Vienna, and this tour goes to all of them, with skip-the-line tickets at each. The Belvedere first, for The Kiss and Judith, the best known paintings of the Golden Period. Starting here gives the rest of the day its bearings: where the gold came from, and what Klimt was reacting to. Then the Secession, for the Beethoven Frieze, his largest work. It is also the only one he built to wrap right around the room, so you stand inside it rather than in front of it, which changes what looking at a Klimt means. The Leopold Museum last, in the MuseumsQuartier, for Death and Life, examined closely because of what it settled in his career, and for the reconstruction of the ceiling paintings he made for the University of Vienna. His landscapes are here too, and they are where the late work is easiest to read. The tour ends at the Leopold, and you can stay on for the rest of its collection for as long as you like.

Good to know
- Public transportation options are available nearby
- Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
- Please come punctually to the meeting point at the main entrance of the Belvedere Palace. Your guide will be waiting for you on the right side of the main entrance of the Belvedere Palace (also called the Upper Belvedere). If you see a breathtaking view of Vienna, you found the meeting point. If you see the palace but not the city view, then please move to the entrance on the opposite side of the building. Just follow the "Museum entrance" sign. Use the contact details on your confirmation/voucher if you have any questions or have difficulties finding the meeting point or your guide.

- From 30 March 2027, due to renovation work at the Upper Belvedere, the first part of this tour will take place at the Lower Belvedere (Unteres Belvedere). All the major masterpieces from the collection, including Gustav Klimt’s *The Kiss*, are being moved there for the duration of the renovation, so you are sure to see them on our tour.
