Start at the Lower Gate on Rennweg and Walk Up Through the Park

Two and a half hours at the Belvedere with a professional guide, taken from the bottom up. Most tours here start at the Upper Belvedere and treat the garden as an afterthought. This one begins at the Lower Belvedere, on Rennweg, and walks up through the park, which is how the complex was meant to be read: the terraces rise, the palace comes into view above them, and the whole Baroque arrangement makes sense in the order it was designed in. The park is one of the more important French-style historical gardens in Europe, with the Belvedere lake reflecting the palace at the top of the climb. Then inside the Upper Belvedere, on the UNESCO list, for the largest collection of Klimt paintings in the world, The Kiss among them. The tour finishes inside the palace grounds.
