Beijing

The classic Beijing route, privately: the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace in one day, with lunch included. What this operator publishes that most do not is the clock. Pickup at 8:30, two hours along the central axis of the palace, an hour at the Temple of Heaven, forty minutes for lunch, forty minutes on the road, an hour and a half at the Summer Palace, back at your hotel around 17:00. Two of the stops are commercial: a traditional Chinese medicine visit on the way to the Temple of Heaven, and a pearl market after lunch. Worth knowing before you go, since they come out of the same day as the palaces.

  1. Tian'anmen

    Hotel pickup at 08:30. The day starts at the north end of Tian'anmen Square, at the Tian'anmen Rostrum, with two pairs of stone lions 600 years old, the ornamental columns and the outer golden water bridge in front of it. From here you can see the rest across the square: the flagpole, the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the Great Hall of the People and the National Museum.

  2. The Palace Museum

    Then the Forbidden City, the largest and best-preserved group of ancient imperial palaces in the world, with 500 years of history. Two hours, walking the central axis from south to north.

  3. Temple of Heaven

    On the way to the Temple of Heaven there is a stop at a traditional Chinese medicine establishment. Then the Temple of Heaven, the largest complex of imperial worship buildings in the world, where the emperors prayed for peace and for the harvest. About an hour here.

  4. Summer Palace

    Lunch is 40 minutes at a restaurant, followed by a short stop at a pearl market. Then 40 minutes' drive to the Summer Palace, the largest of the Chinese imperial gardens and the one usually called the museum of gardens. About an hour and a half there. Drop-off at your hotel around 17:00.
