On Mondays the Lama Temple Stands In, and a Code for the Evening Square
A private full day covering four of Beijing's UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace. The Forbidden City closes every Monday. On Mondays the itinerary substitutes the Lama Temple, so the day still has four stops rather than three and a gap. Everything is included: the entrance fees, a local lunch, a private guide and a private car.

Tiananmen Square
The guide meets you at your Beijing hotel in the morning. In the peak periods, the April spring break, the July and August summer holidays, Labour Day from 1 to 7 May, National Day from 1 to 7 October and Spring Festival in mid-February, the square is seen from the car rather than on foot, because the security queue at those times runs 1 to 3 hours. You still see the landmarks: the Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, the Monument to the People's Heroes, the Tian'anmen Rostrum, the Great Hall of the People and the National Museum of China. The operator also provides free reservation codes for the evening session at Tian'anmen Square: ask the guide for one and go back independently after the tour. Outside the peak dates, the group walks into the square.
The Palace Museum
Then the Forbidden City, the largest and best-preserved ancient imperial complex in the world, with over 500 years of history behind it. It was built between 1406 and 1420, and it has been damaged, looted, rebuilt and restored more than once since. Most of what stands today dates from the 18th century onwards, which is worth knowing before you look at it.
Summer Palace
After lunch, the Summer Palace, one of the largest imperial gardens in China. It was built as a retreat and a temporary residence for the Qing emperors, and it is walked rather than toured.
Temple of Heaven
Last, the Temple of Heaven, where the emperors prayed for peace and for a good harvest. It stands in southern Beijing and has been one of the country's most sacred sites for more than five centuries, serving as the main sacrificial altar of the Ming and Qing.

- Forbidden City tickets require real-name reservation 168 hours (7 days) in advance and often sell out quickly. We highly recommend you book your tour as early as possible. Otherwise, international visitors may need to queue at the entrance to purchase tickets on site.
