Your Passport Is the Ticket, and the Morning One Dies at Noon
Entry to the Forbidden City, booked in advance, with no guide and no transport. The entrance fee itself is modest. What costs you is the rest: the queues at the ticket window are long, and buying on the spot means carrying Chinese cash. Booked online, your passport becomes the ticket. You show it at the gate and walk in, at whatever hour you chose, morning or afternoon, and you go round at your own speed. The timings are strict, so read the instructions on the stop below before you go: which gate to arrive at, and when a morning ticket stops working.
