Four Hours, and the Climb to Râșnov Is by Lift or Little Train
Four hours from the centre of Brașov, in a small group, which makes this the short version of the Bran and Râșnov day rather than the full one. The road goes through the Transylvanian Alps, the southern Carpathians. Râșnov comes first: the centre of the town, then up towards the fortress by lift or by the little train, as far as the viewpoint. The Peasants' Citadel is what it was called, and the view from up there takes in the Brașov plateau and the mountains around it. Bran is another twenty to thirty minutes on. The castle was finished in 1388, built on a steep cliff between Măgura and Dealul Cetății, and looks straight out over the hills. Its history and the Dracula story are both covered, and they are not the same thing. The return to Brașov takes about forty minutes, with the mountains along the way, and the group is dropped back at the pickup point.
