Temporary Shows, the Orangery and the Stables, and No Klimt Here

Admission to the Lower Belvedere, with the Orangery and the Palace Stables, and no guide: you go to the entrance and take it at your own pace. Worth knowing before booking: the Klimt paintings are in the Upper Belvedere, not here. The Lower Belvedere is where the temporary exhibitions go, which makes it the better half for anyone who has already seen The Kiss, or who would rather look at something that will not be there next year. The complex is on the World Heritage list and was built in the 18th century as the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy. The Austrian State Treaty was signed here. It is at once one of the oldest museums in the world and a place that shows contemporary work. The main garden lies between the two palaces and steps down over three large terraces.
