The Pazzi Plot, Savonarola's Pyre, and Bianca's House at the End
Florence told through the family that made it what it is, privately, by a guide who lives here. The form is storytelling rather than a chronology, and what comes out of it is the material that does not fit in a history book: the Pazzi conspiracy, the burning of Savonarola, and what a family of bankers did with three centuries of power. The landmarks along the way include Piazza Strozzi, Piazza della Signoria and the Palazzo Pitti, each connected back to the events that happened in them and to what the city still looks like because of them. The square was used for public executions, and it is where the story of the Pazzi plot gets told. It is also where Girolamo Savonarola was burned.
A vast
A vast, largely Renaissance palace, previously owned by the Pitti family. It stands on the south side of the Arno, a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio.
