Pena Park and Regaleira Both Guided, Palace Interior as an Upgrade

LisbonA small-group day out of Lisbon with two admissions and two guided visits in the price, and one clearly stated upgrade. What is included: the Pena Park ticket with a guided visit, and the Quinta da Regaleira ticket with a guided visit. What is not: the interior of the Pena Palace, which can be added by arranging the upgrade with the guide on the day. That distinction is worth understanding rather than glossing. Pena Park is 85 hectares of botanic garden, planted by Ferdinand II with species from across the empire, and the paths through it lead to the views of the palace that people actually photograph. The interior is a set of rooms, including the Manueline Triton, the royal bedrooms and the Arab Room. They are different experiences and the park is not a consolation. Regaleira is four hectares of gardens, lakes, grottoes and the Initiation Well, and here both the ticket and the guiding come as standard. After Sintra the day runs to Cabo da Roca, then along the coast past Guincho and the Boca do Inferno cliffs to Cascais, with free time in the town. Groups run between 8 and 18 people, in an air-conditioned minivan, from the Praça da Figueira.

Praça da Figueira, Lisboa
Park and National Palace of Pena
Meet the guide at Praça da Figueira in central Lisbon and travel to Sintra by air-conditioned minivan. The day opens in Pena Park, where the planted trails lead to the views of the Pena National Palace on the top of the mountain. The palace itself holds the Manueline Great Triton, the bedrooms of the king and queen, and the Arab Room. The Pena Gardens ticket and the guided visit are included, with free time afterwards. To go inside the palace, arrange the upgrade with the guide.

From Regaleira into the historic centre of Sintra, with free time to walk, to look at the Sintra National Palace, or to eat a travesseiro or a queijada, at your own expense.
Cabo Da Roca
Through the Sintra natural park to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe, and the cliffs there. Then a slow drive along the Atlantic coast, past Guincho beach and the Boca do Inferno.
Cascais
Cascais, with its narrow streets, its Portuguese architecture and its beach.
