Regaleira Skip the Line and Pena, All Tickets in the Price, Plus Cabo da Roca
A Sintra day where nothing is bought at the gate: the entries are in the price, and the queue at the Quinta da Regaleira is skipped. Regaleira is the first stop out of Lisbon. The estate was built in the 20th century and carries the artistic movements that were running at the time, all of them at once. The Initiatory Well is the piece people come for, a shaft cut down through the garden with Masonic origins. After that there is free time in Sintra for the town and for lunch, which is on your own. Then the National Palace of Pena, the most visited monument in Portugal. The guide covers the gardens and, depending on the option chosen, the interior, and the history of how a single building ended up carrying so many architectural styles at once. Cabo da Roca comes next, the westernmost point of continental Europe, with the Atlantic below the cliffs. The drive back to Lisbon follows the coast, which is the reason it is done that way round.
