Sintra with One Monument Inside, Your Choice, and Guides from the Town

The rest of the day is viewpoints, most of them inside the natural park and not on the standard circuit, plus Cascais, the fishing village the Portuguese royal family used to favour, and Cabo da Roca, where the cliffs of mainland Europe's westernmost point drop into the Atlantic. Pick-up and drop-off at your accommodation are included on the private options. A municipal fee of €3.77 per person may apply for access to Sintra. The options: Private, without tickets. If you choose the Pena Palace or the Quinta da Regaleira, buy the tickets yourself for 10:00. Private, with the Pena Palace ticket included, which is the version where nothing is left to arrange. Sintra Municipality
This is the guides' home town. Beyond the viewpoints inside the natural park that no coach stops at, and the scenery that is simply everywhere, the choice of which monument to go inside is yours. More than one in a single day is exhausting, which is said from experience, and there are recommendations on hand to help you decide. The others you still see, from the outside or from the viewpoints.
Park and National Palace of Pena
One of the monuments you can pick to go inside. It is the one you are already picturing: the colourful fairytale palace on top of the mountain, the Pena Palace.

Castelo dos Mouros
Another of the Sintra monuments open to you. It sits next to the Pena Palace at the top of the mountain, fortress walls along the ridge and the views that come with them.
Sintra National Palace
Another one you can choose to go inside. The first palace built in Portugal, with its famous chimneys, standing in the middle of the historic centre of Sintra. Go in, or stay in the narrow streets around it and eat the local pastries instead.
Quinta da Regaleira
Another of the choices available to go inside. A property with no equal: mystical references everywhere, gardens built as puzzles, grottoes, and the Initiatic Well.
Cabo Da Roca
The road crosses the mountain and comes out where the land ends and the sea starts, the most westerly point of mainland Europe. Have the camera ready, because this place really does look like the postcard.
Cascais
Along the ocean-front roads and the white sand beaches, Guincho among them, to the last stop: a fishing village that was once the Portuguese royal family's holiday address. Free time here for the village and its cobbled streets.
