Enter Any Time Between 6:30 and 15:30, and Stay Until They Close
Two tickets to the Summer Palace, and the difference is what is behind the inner gates. The combined ticket covers the main gate and the enclosed sights inside: the Dehe Garden, Suzhou Street, the Tower of Buddhist Incense and the Wenchang Gallery. You can go in at any point between 6:30 and 15:30 and stay in the park until closing. The main entrance ticket covers the park itself. That is the right choice if what you want is the walk round the lake, the landscape and the buildings from outside, without paying for interiors you will not go into.

Opening hours: 1 April to 31 October, 6:00 to 19:00; the enclosed gardens 8:00 to 17:30. 1 November to 31 March, 6:30 to 18:00; the enclosed gardens 8:30 to 16:30. The Summer Palace is the largest and best preserved royal park in China, and UNESCO listed it in 1998. It set the terms for Chinese garden design, which is why it is called the museum of royal gardens. It is built around Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, and holds over 3,000 old structures: pavilions, towers, bridges and corridors. The standard admission covers the main entrance only. The combination ticket adds the Dehe Garden, the Tower of Buddhist Incense, the Wenchang Hall, Suzhou Street and the Danning Hall.
