A Street 111 Centimetres Wide, and Two Hours of Brașov on Foot
A private day for a small group with a driver-guide, in a Mercedes-Benz minivan. What separates it from the other castle runs is the third stop. Most itineraries treat Brașov as the place you leave in the morning and return to at night. Here it gets a walking tour of its own, about two hours, adjustable to what you want to see.

Bran Castle
Dracula is what Romania is best known for abroad, so most people want to see his castle. Bram Stoker picked Bran as the house in his novel. The truth is that the real Vlad the Impaler probably spent little time here, and possibly none at all. It is still worth the visit: there is a fully equipped torture chamber, and the views over the inner courtyard and out across the valley.

Peles Castle
Peleș Castle, the summer residence of the Romanian royal family, built at the end of the 19th century at the wish of King Carol I, and one of the significant European monuments of that period. Lunch can be taken in Sinaia, or back in Brașov, where there is plenty of choice.

Brasov Historical Center
Brașov, or Kronstadt, sits under the peaks of the Southern Carpathians, and its centre carries Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance building side by side. The walk takes in Rope Street, which is between 111 and 135 cm wide, and the Black Church, the principal Gothic building in Romania, and otherwise simply the streets themselves. It usually runs about 2 hours and can be adjusted to suit you.
