A Monastery With a Small Zoo, and a Gondola That Stops in Winter
A day out of Brașov that puts less obvious places alongside the famous one. Peleș is on it, but so are stops most itineraries never mention, and that mix is the reason to take this one rather than another. There are two versions, chosen at booking. One goes to the Peleș complex and the Sinaia monastery. The other goes to Cantacuzino Castle, which played Nevermore Academy in Wednesday, and includes the ride up for the mountain views.

Manastirea Caraiman
An Orthodox monastery with a small zoo attached and a clear view of the mountains.
Peles Castle
At Sinaia, the Peleș complex: the summer residence of the Romanian royal family, made up of Peleș and Pelișor, the gardens and the buildings around them.

Manastirea Sinaia
The Sinaia monastery has two churches, the old one from 1690 and the newer one from 1840, both Romanian Orthodox. (Peleș option only.)
From here can be admired the surrounding mountains
The mountains all round from up here. You can come up from Sinaia by gondola, though not in winter. (Cantacuzino option only.)
Cantacuzino Castle
Built in 1900 by the wealthy Prince Gheorghe Cantacuzino, in Romanian style, with a park around it. (Cantacuzino option only.) The castle appears in the series Wednesday as Nevermore Academy.
