Sixty-Nine Hectares of Forest for About a Hundred Rescued Bears
A private day from Brașov with an English-speaking guide, covering the Libearty bear sanctuary at Zărnești, Bran Castle and Râșnov Fortress. The guide meets the group at the hotel at 9 am. The sanctuary is the first stop and the reason many people book this particular day: 69 hectares of forest, streams and ponds, 2 km from the Piatra Craiului National Park, holding around 100 brown bears rescued from captivity. It is the largest of its kind anywhere. Photographs are allowed. Bran comes next, with the guide separating what happened from what Bram Stoker invented about Vlad the Impaler. Lunch can be arranged in Bran village. Râșnov is on the way back. The 13th-century fortress is the largest in Transylvania and among the best preserved in Romania, and from the top the view runs the full circle over the Țara Bârsei, the Burzenland plain. The day ends with a transfer back to the hotel in Brașov. One condition to weigh before booking: all sales are final and no refund is given for a cancellation.

Libearty Bear Sanctuary Zarnesti
The sanctuary sits in the forest 2 km from the Piatra Craiului National Park: 69 hectares of woodland, streams and ponds, home to around 100 brown bears taken out of captivity. It is the largest of its kind in the world. Photographs are allowed.

The castle appears above Bran village on the approach. The visit goes through it with the guide, who sets out what the building actually was against what the legends made of it.

Râșnov Fortress, built in the 13th century, is the largest in Transylvania and one of the best preserved in Romania. From the top the view goes round the whole Țara Bârsei.
