Lisbon

Half a day that covers two parts of Lisbon most tours treat separately, with the walking done where walking works and a minivan for the distance in between. Belém comes first. The Belém Tower, a 16th-century Manueline fortress and a UNESCO site, which was the ceremonial gateway to the city. Then the Monument to the Discoveries, built in the shape of a ship's prow. Then the Jerónimos Monastery, where the facade is the subject and the church can be seen inside if the timing allows. A Pastel de Belém is included, baked at the original shop to the recipe they have kept for a couple of centuries. After that the minivan runs into the downtown, and the rest is on foot through Chiado and the Baixa: the squares, the cafes, Praça do Comércio and Rossio. Four hours, a local guide, and a maximum of eight people.
