Linderhof Alone, Three Hours in the Grounds, and One Add-On to Choose
Nearly every day trip out of Munich treats Linderhof as the second half of a Neuschwanstein day. This one goes there and stays. Pickup is private, from your accommodation in Munich or in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and there are cold drinks in the vehicle. At Linderhof the time is spent rather than spent up: the gardens, the fountains, and the palace itself, the only one Ludwig II lived to see finished. The ticket is included, and the guided tour of the interior runs 30 minutes through rooms built by a king who had looked hard at Versailles. Afterwards there is up to three hours on the grounds at your own pace, which is roughly three times what a combined itinerary allows. One optional add-on can be attached to the day: the alpine coaster, or the Venus Grotto, subject to its opening times.

Munich
Morning pickup from your Munich accommodation, in an air-conditioned private vehicle with cold drinks and light snacks on board, and then the drive into the Bavarian Alps.
Schloss Linderhof
Linderhof Palace, where Ludwig II lived for more than eight years. Time inside and outside, in the gardens and at the Moorish Kiosk, with the guide pointing out where the palace looks best from.
OPTIONAL
Optional: after the palace, one of the best summer toboggan runs in Bavaria, a twisting track down the mountain with the Alps around you. You control the speed, so it can be taken gently or not.
Munich
The drive back to Munich, with the Alps going past one last time.
