Munich
Skip the line

Three Bavarian stops in one private day: Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Oberammergau, driven between in a comfortable vehicle with the whole itinerary already arranged. What is unusual here is how little is left to pay for. Every admission ticket is included, the entry is guaranteed skip-the-line, and a horse-drawn carriage ride comes with it. One honest note about the castles: inside both of them, entry is run as a group tour. That is the rule of the buildings themselves and applies however you arrive. And one before booking: all sales are final and cancellations are not refunded.

  • Tickets for Neuschwanstein Castle with Skip the line service.

  1. Munich

The guide picks you up at your hotel in Munich. The drive takes 1 hour 45 minutes, ending in the village of Hohenschwangau, below Neuschwanstein.

  2. Neuschwanstein Castle

Neuschwanstein is the castle Disney borrowed for its own. With the skip-the-line service there is no waiting hours for tickets, and no arriving to find them sold out. The shuttle goes up to Mary's Bridge first, for the photographs, and the walk to the castle follows, with a tour inside. Entry is run as a group tour, which is the castle's policy. The subject is Ludwig II, the Swan King, king of Bavaria from 1864 to 1886, and the castle built between 1869 and 1886. Note: in the winter months the Marienbrücke can be closed for snow and safety.

  3. Oberammergau

Then Oberammergau: the Passion Play, the woodcarving, the painted houses. Time here for a slow lunch and the shops.

  4. Schloss Linderhof

The day ends at Linderhof, where Ludwig II lived for more than eight years. The interiors (again entered as a group tour, by the castle's rule), then the gardens and the Moorish Kiosk.

  5. Munich

The drive back to your hotel in Munich.
