In Snow There Is No Shuttle and No Bridge, and the Carriage Takes You Down
A private day through Bavaria with the ticketing handled: no reservations to make, no queue to stand in and no working out where to park. The route covers Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and the village of Oberammergau, and entry to the castles is guaranteed rather than hoped for. One thing this operator states plainly, and it is worth reading before you book a winter date: when there is snow, the shuttle bus does not run and Mary's Bridge stays closed. The castle is still there; the photograph everyone wants is not.

Schloss Neuschwanstein
The private guide picks you up at your Munich hotel. First stop is Neuschwanstein, the most visited castle in southern Germany and the one Disney borrowed for its own. With skip-the-line entry there is nothing to queue for and nothing to gamble on. The shuttle then goes up to Mary's Bridge, for the photographs of the castle with the Alps behind it. Note: in winter, when there is snow, the shuttle does not run and Mary's Bridge is closed. From the bridge it is an easy walk down to Neuschwanstein, where entry is a guided group tour, as the castle requires. A horse-drawn carriage brings the group back down to Hohenschwangau village.
Oberammergau
Then Oberammergau: the woodcarving, the painted houses, and the Passion Play the village has staged since 1634. Free time here to walk, photograph and buy.
Schloss Linderhof
The day ends at Linderhof, where Ludwig II lived for more than eight years. A guided group tour through the interiors, then the gardens and the Moorish Kiosk. It is the smallest of his palaces and the least restrained. After that, the drive back to your hotel.
