Lisbon

Three and a half hours in Belém on foot, privately, in the part of Lisbon that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monuments are the obvious reason to come: the Monastery and Church of Jerónimos, and the Belém Tower at the end of it. But Belém also holds the museums, the concert halls and the galleries, which is why artists from everywhere keep ending up in this quarter. There is a Pastéis de Belém along the way, which is not optional in this district. The route also takes the riverbank, the gardens of Belém and the Padrão dos Descobrimentos, and includes the Tropical Botanical Garden, which almost no other Belém tour bothers to enter and which is the quietest thing here by a distance.
