Private Tower of London with the Ravens and the Torture Chamber
Three hours inside a medieval palace that was also a prison, a royal menagerie and an armoury, with a private Blue Badge guide and nobody else in the group. The route goes through several of the towers, and it does not skip the uncomfortable parts. The gates on the way in still have their murder holes. The torture chamber still has some of the brutal medieval instruments in it. The Bloody Tower comes with the question of who was held there. The ravens live on the grounds, some in their cages and some hopping about loose. The guide will introduce them, and they will sometimes pose for a photograph, though standing too close is a mistake: they bite. The Jewel House is the high point, with the crown, the sceptre and the orb behind thick doors. Then the White Tower, the oldest part of the fortress, packed with armour that belonged to Henry VIII, Charles I and others, with an interactive exhibition upstairs that works for adults as well as children. Children in the party get a quiz during the tour, with a prize at the end. Coming out, there is a clear view of Tower Bridge, and with luck you catch it opening. The tour leaves from the Welcome Centre opposite the main entrance, where the guide waits with a sign showing the lead customer's name.

Tower Place West, 2b Tower Hill, London
The tour departs from the Welcome Centre, opposite the main entrance. Your guide will be waiting with a sign showing the lead customer's name.
Tower of London
The tour starts at your allocated time, with your guide waiting at the Tower Welcome Centre, just outside the main entrance. Getting safely inside means passing through a few gates with murder holes above them. Your guide will introduce you to the ravens: some resting in their cages, some hopping around loose. They might even pose for a picture, but do not get too close, because they bite. Who was imprisoned in the Bloody Tower? That comes right after escaping the torture chamber, where some of the brutal medieval instruments are still on show.
Jewel House
Now the jewels: the crown, the sceptre, the orb and a good deal more. The whole collection sits behind thick doors, and its value does not bear thinking about.
White Tower
The White Tower next, the oldest part of the fortress, packed with armour that once belonged to famous kings, Henry VIII and Charles I among them. Upstairs there is an interactive exhibition that children and adults both get something out of. There is a great deal to see around the Tower of London.
Tower Bridge
Once out of the fortress there is a fine view of Tower Bridge. With luck, you see it open.
