Private Windsor Castle and Stonehenge with a Pub Lunch in Windsor
Two sites in nine and a half hours, with a stop for lunch in a traditional English pub in Windsor town. Pick-up is at 8am, and about five and a half of those hours are driving. Stonehenge is the 5,000-year-old stone circle, and here you walk the whole way round it, coming within three metres of the stones. The guide has the answers on when it went up, why and how. The new visitor centre has the exhibition and the reconstructed stone age huts, and there is time for the gift shop. Windsor comes with the pub stop first, in the small town below the castle. Then the castle itself: a thousand years of building, the King's main weekend home, with the Royal Guards on duty and the chapel where Harry and Meghan married. A member of the Royal Family is a possibility rather than a promise. The vehicle is yours for the day, which means stopping when you want, for a break or for a photograph of the countryside. The operator knows the way past the long lines at each venue, and the guide also knows where to eat, drink and shop, and will take the photographs for you.
