Sixty State Coaches, the Sledges, and Two Centuries of Livery
Ratings collected by Tiqets
The Imperial Carriage Museum, in the grounds at Schönbrunn, holds what the Habsburg court actually moved around in. More than 60 vehicles: state coaches, sledges for the winter, and sedan chairs for the short distances inside the city. Alongside them, over two hundred years of harness and livery, which is the part most visitors do not expect and end up looking at longest, because it is where the daily running of a court becomes visible. It is a different kind of visit from the state rooms next door. There you see how the family lived; here you see how it travelled, and how many people were needed to make that happen. The ticket cannot be cancelled, so settle the date before booking.
