Twenty-Two Rooms, Lantern to Hunting, Not the Standard Imperial Tour

ViennaTwo and a half hours at Schönbrunn with a licensed guide, on the Highlights route rather than the tour most visitors get. The difference is countable. Individual visitors follow the Imperial Tour; this one covers 22 rooms, from the Lantern Room through to the Hunting Room, and that route is open only through official partners of the palace. Timed tickets are booked in advance, so the ticket line is skipped. Inside, the rooms run from the imperial bedrooms to the ballrooms, with the paintings, chandeliers and furniture they were built around. The commentary is live, in one language chosen at booking, and covers the Habsburgs who lived here, Maria Theresa and Sisi among them. Afterwards the gardens: the fountains, the mythological statues, the Roman Ruins, and the Gloriette on its hill, seen from below. The meeting point takes some care. It is Café Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker, inside the palace complex, not the Schlosscafé by the main gate. Photographs of the exact spot are sent by email and text before the date.

Meet the guide on the left side of Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker, Schönbrunner Schloßstraße 47, 1130 Wien (48.18572721289812, 16.31386222974554). Not the Schlosscafé Schönbrunn by the main gate. Reach the fountains in the courtyard, turn left, and wait at the pillars on the left, with the café door on your right.
Your tour begins at Café Gerstner K
The tour begins at Café Gerstner K. u. K. Hofzuckerbäcker, inside Schönbrunn Palace, at Schönbrunner Schloßstraße 47 / Kavalierstrakt 52. Nearest transport: Schönbrunn U-Bahn or the Schloß Schönbrunn bus stop. Come in through the Main Gate, where the ticket office is, walk into the main courtyard with the fountains, turn left and go past the Museum Shop and the Schlosscafé Schönbrunn, along the facade. Café Gerstner is on the left, about halfway along, and the guide waits to the right of its entrance. Photographs of the spot are also sent by email and text, since the area is easy to get wrong.
Schonbrunn Palace
Inside with the guide, on timed tickets that skip the queue. The route is the full Highlights one, 22 rooms from the Lantern Room to the Hunting Room, open only through official partners, where individual visitors get the standard Imperial Tour. Bedrooms and ballrooms, the paintings, chandeliers and furniture, and the guide on the Habsburg court, Maria Theresa and Sisi included.
