Toboggan Down From the Wall, Then Choose: the Garden or the Tomb
A private day that starts on the Great Wall at Mutianyu, the section that stays quieter than the others because it is further from Beijing. After lunch the day forks, and you choose when you book. Either the Summer Palace, the model against which traditional Chinese garden design is measured, with the guide covering the architecture and the stories of the Empress Dowager. Or the Ming Tombs, where the Dingling is opened up and the subject is what the Ming did with their dead. They are very different afternoons, which is the point of being asked.

Mutianyu Great Wall
A morning drive with the guide to Mutianyu, further out from Beijing than Badaling and less crowded for it, with the best views of any section near the city. Getting up and down is your choice: the cable car both ways, or the chairlift up and the toboggan back down.
Summer Palace
Lunch at a local restaurant near the wall, then about an hour and a half on the road to the Summer Palace, the summer resort of the imperial family and the best preserved of the Chinese imperial gardens. The guide covers the Empress Dowager and what she did here. Transfer back to your hotel lobby at the end.
Ming Tombs (Ming Shishan Ling)
Thirteen Ming emperors are buried in this valley. The Dingling is the one in the best condition and the one you go into: down the underground passage, past what was buried with them.
