Prague

One day that does both: Karlštejn in the morning, Prague on foot in the afternoon, with a private licensed guide throughout. A private car collects you in Prague and takes 45 minutes to Karlštejn village, in a protected landscape area. From there it is about 20 minutes on foot up to the castle; in summer a horse carriage can be taken instead, at extra cost. After the courtyards comes a guided tour in a small group through the Imperial Palace, which was the emperor's own seat. The castle closes on Mondays and through the winter, with reduced opening in spring and autumn. Karlštejn was built to hold the crown jewels, the royal treasure and the relic collections, which is a role none of the other thousand-odd Czech castles had. Lunch is traditional Czech cooking, in the countryside, and it is included. Back in Prague, 45 minutes, the walk starts at Prague Castle and St Vitus and goes down through Lesser Town with its gardens and churches, across Charles Bridge, into the Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock, and on to the Jewish Town, one of the oldest Jewish communities in Europe. One thing to budget for separately: in Prague the interiors are optional and the admissions are not included.
