The Râșnov Garden Is Card-Only at the Gate, and the Fortress Is Shut
Half a day out of Brașov, in a small group, to Râșnov and Bran. Râșnov comes first, and the honest position there is that the 13th-century fortress itself is closed. What can be seen is the outer wall, the exterior courtyard and the garden of the medieval fortress, with the Báthory Tower at its entrance. Since 13 August 2025 the garden needs a ticket, bought on the spot, and the machine takes cards only, no cash. Under-12s go in free. Bran follows, up on its rock with the stone walls and red turrets coming into view on the approach, the Carpathians behind it. The entrance fee is paid on site and is not part of the tour price. Inside, the guide takes the group through the rooms, and the two stories, the Gothic novel and the actual history of Vlad III, the Impaler, are kept apart rather than blurred together. He was a 15th-century prince known for his campaigns against the Ottoman armies, and Bram Stoker built a character on the name.

Bran Castle
A short drive to Bran, whose walls and red turrets appear on the approach with the Carpathians behind. The site fee is paid on arrival, at your own expense, and the guide then takes the group through the rooms. Vlad III, the Impaler, is the historical figure Bram Stoker drew the name of his 1897 character from; his campaigns against the Ottoman armies are what he was known for in the 15th century.

- The recommendations of our tour guides: We are always eager to make sure our guests have a wonderful time while participating on our tours. Organizing private and small group tours allows us to be flexible with time and always have opportunities for breaks. Usually, we arrive to Bran around mid-day and after visiting Bran castle our guests can have some free time on the premises and nearby the castle grounds for lunch, shopping or photographing the area. In the Tea House, a small restaurant in the castle’s courtyard one can try the Funeral cake, a porridge like dessert with walnuts, raisins, rom and much more. In Romanian called Coliva the funeral cake usually is served at funerals and commemoration of deceased loved ones. It goes well with a good coffee or tea. Nearby the castle entrance a small souvenir market is located, our favorite stall is selling traditional masks and handcrafted objects and textiles. Please ask your guide to point it out to you! Our guests have the option to decide to have a proper sit-down meal or something quick on the move. The same market has food stalls, one of the most popular ones sells Romanian Hot Dogs (local sausage sandwiches) and Hanul Bran restaurant offers a large choice of tasty Romanian cuisine.
