London

The plain day ticket, and it carries more than people expect. Admission includes the Yeoman Warder tours, which leave every 30 minutes from the Middle Tower, so the guiding is not a separate purchase. Inside the fortress: the White Tower above you, and the Crown Jewels. The Warders tell the bloody version of the history, and the route passes the spot where famous heads rolled and the places where prisoners were held, along with the exotic animals the Tower once kept, a polar bear among them. The White Tower also holds the Royal Armouries Line of Kings, the longest running museum display in the world. Finish on Tower Wharf, with the Thames in front of you, Tower Bridge on one side and The Shard behind it.
