Tower of London Led by Your Own Beefeater, with the Royal Mint
Most Tower tours let you meet a Yeoman Warder. On this one a Beefeater is assigned to your small group and leads the whole visit, which changes what you get: 900 years of intrigue, imprisonment and execution, told by the people who live inside the walls. The early start matters as much as the guide. Because the tour begins first thing, you are among the first visitors in, and the fortress is still quiet. After the guided part you carry on at your own pace: the Bloody Tower, the old Royal Mint, and the building that holds the Crown Jewels. One thing to get right before you set off. The meeting point is not the entrance to the Tower of London. It is directly in front of the Group Ticket Office, where a City Wonders representative waits with a flag and a sign.

Tower of London
The tour begins just in front of the main entrance with a short introduction to the history of the Tower, before you are led in to meet the Beefeater assigned to your small group. Traitorous plots, royal scandal: the guards of the Tower of London tell the stories from the inside. A small group also means plenty of chances to ask questions and talk directly to the Beefeater as they take you through the fortress.
The Crown Jewels
After the guided part, carry on through the Tower at your own pace: the infamous Bloody Tower, the old Royal Mint, or the home of the Crown Jewels. The early morning start puts you among the first visitors in, with the usual crowds still to arrive. Stronghold, palace and prison by turns, the Tower of London is the place to start for anyone interested in British history, and the Beefeaters are the people who know it best.
