Thirty Million Bricks in the Rathaus, and the Walking Done by Car
A private day in Vienna where the distances are covered by car and the walking is kept for the places worth walking. Pickup is at your accommodation, and the guide travels with you. Three hours, the Highlights: a guided drive through the old town, the Rathaus, the Hofburg and the State Opera, St Stephen's Cathedral, and the 18th-century Belvedere gardens, then a hotel drop-off. Seven hours, Imperial Grandeur: all of the above plus skip-the-line entry to Schönbrunn and 24 rooms with the guide, the frescoes of St Peter's Church, and a drive through the MuseumsQuartier. Eight hours, the full day: everything above plus a timed entry to the Upper Belvedere, with Gustav Klimt's The Kiss and the rest of the collection, and private transfers all day. The Rathaus is worth the number: something like 30 million bricks went into it. Heldenplatz is where Hitler announced the Anschluss on 15 March 1938. The Karlskirche cupola carries 1,250 square metres of fresco. Several further stops, the Schatzkammer and the Sisi Museum among them, are not in the itinerary but can be added on request.

Historic Center of Vienna
Pickup at your accommodation in Vienna, with the guide in the car. The drive goes into the historic centre: Baroque palaces and gardens, and the Ringstrasse of the late 19th century with its public buildings, monuments and parks.
Schonbrunn Palace
To Schönbrunn, with skip-the-line tickets and the guide inside. The palace and its gardens are on the UNESCO list. The Rococo apartments of Franz Joseph and Elisabeth are the core of the visit, three centuries of household history told room by room, and the gardens are walked afterwards.
Belvedere Museum
On to the Belvedere, driven there. The seven-hour option covers the park, the buildings, the fountains and the statues. The eight-hour option adds a guided visit inside on skip-the-line tickets, through the Austrian collection: Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Oskar Kokoschka, with the Habsburgs as the thread.
Rathaus
The Rathaus, on the walking part of the tour, and a number that stays with you: roughly 30 million bricks went into the town hall.
Rathausplatz
The square in front of it, with the Austrian Parliament and the University of Vienna both close by.
Burgtheater

Universitat Wien
The University of Vienna, next to the Rathaus, and the Nobel Prizes that came out of it.
Kaiserliche Schatzkammer Wien
Not in the itinerary, but the guide can take you there on request: the imperial treasury, with the Imperial Crown, the Holy Lance and the Order of the Golden Fleece.
Sisi Museum
