Buy the Peleș Ticket Between a Week and 30 Days Before, Not Sooner

A day out of Bucharest to Sinaia, Brașov and Bran, with pickup from a chosen meeting point or from the accommodation, and the road north through the Transylvanian forests. Sinaia comes first, and Peleș with it. The castle was the summer residence of the Romanian royal family, begun under King Carol I, and the guided tour goes through the state rooms in their late 19th-century decoration. Brașov follows, with commentary on the landmarks along the route and an hour and a half in the historic centre, free for lunch or for walking. Then Bran, visited on your own after the guide has explained what to look for. Vlad III, the Impaler, is the 15th-century figure behind Bram Stoker's novel; the castle's own history is a separate matter, and the guide separates them. The tickets are the part to plan. They are not included, and they can only be bought inside a 30-day window before the visit. At least a week ahead is the sensible margin, especially for weekends and public holidays; leave it to the last minute and Peleș may be sold out, in which case Pelișor is the substitute. Instructions and available time slots arrive once the booking is confirmed. Even with a ticket in hand there is a queue at the entrance, and security checks can add to it. Two days to avoid: Peleș is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays all year. On those days the castle is seen from the outside and an exhibition of medieval torture instruments at Bran is added instead. Maintenance and deep cleaning also close it on set days between November and December 2026, when Pelișor takes its place, weather permitting, and the gardens around Peleș stay open to walk in. Traffic and holidays can move the timings, and in high season the waits are longer.
