You Set the Time and the Address, and the Way Back Isn't the Way Out
A private day in a premium van with an English-speaking guide, and the castle tickets are already included. It starts at the time and the address you choose. About an hour and a half of Bavarian scenery later, the guide takes you to the viewpoints worth stopping at and tells you how the castle came to exist, before the guided tour of the interior of Neuschwanstein. Afterwards there is a stop in one of the villages, Schwangau, Füssen or Oberammergau, for lunch in a local restaurant or just a coffee. The return does not retrace the outward road. Depending on closures and traffic it runs past Lake Plansee or through Oberammergau, and Linderhof Palace can be added on the way. Oberammergau is the Passion Play village, and the woodcarving and Christmas shops are open the rest of the year.

Queen Mary's Bridge (Marienbrucke)
The Marienbrücke, the viewpoint everyone heads for at Neuschwanstein.
Schloss Neuschwanstein
Neuschwanstein, at Hohenschwangau in Bavaria, was built to the order of Ludwig II, and it is the castle Disney borrowed for its own. Tickets for the interior tour are arranged for you.
Altstadt von Fuessen
Füssen old town (option 2 only: Neuschwanstein & Linderhof). After Neuschwanstein, time in the old streets of Füssen, with its shops and cafés, and lunch if you want it, before the drive on through the Bavarian Alps to Linderhof.
Lechfall
Lechfall waterfall (option 2 only: Neuschwanstein & Linderhof). A short stop between the two castles. The falls and the Alps behind them are seen straight from the roadside, with no walking involved.
Plansee Lake
Plansee (option 2 only: Neuschwanstein & Linderhof). The road runs along this Alpine lake between the two castles. Turquoise water, mountains around it, and a chance to stop for photographs.
Schloss Linderhof
Linderhof Palace (option 2 only: Neuschwanstein & Linderhof). A palace in the Bavarian Alps built with Versailles in mind: the interiors, the landscaped gardens, the fountains and the grounds. It is the most private of the Bavarian royal residences.

Ettal Abbey
Ettal Abbey (Kloster Ettal) is a Benedictine monastery in the village of Ettal, near Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. With a community of more than 50 monks as of 2005, and another five at Wechselburg, it is one of the largest Benedictine houses and draws a lot of visitors.

- Please be aware that the tour involves navigating many narrow and winding stairs. The building has five floors, requiring visitors to climb 165 steps up and 180 steps down. For visitors with severely reduced mobility or a severe disability, an elevator is available upon prior reservation. Due to limited capacity, elevator access is reserved exclusively for visitors with a severe walking disability (proof of a severely disabled person's ID card is required).
