Royal Alcázar Guided, Ending in the Water Gardens of Dorne

SevilleAdmission is booked in advance and the guiding is done by a licensed local guide. The route runs through the royal rooms, the Mudéjar architecture, the courtyards and the gardens.
The Patio de las Doncellas is where the palace explains itself: a long pool down the middle, arcades either side, and the whole thing built so that symmetry, water and light do the work. The Salón de Embajadores next door was designed to intimidate visiting delegations, and the guide reads the symbols worked into it.
The gardens close the visit, and they will be familiar to a lot of people before the guide says anything. The fountains and shaded paths were used as the Water Gardens of Dorne in Game of Thrones, and the production changed almost nothing to make them work.
What holds it together is the argument of the building: Islamic craft, Christian patrons, and a palace that kept being rebuilt by rulers who wanted their predecessors' aesthetics along with their power.
Two options at booking. The Alcázar alone, or the combination that adds Seville Cathedral and the Giralda, with the Gothic interiors, the tomb of Columbus and the view over the city from the tower.
