Windsor Castle, Stonehenge and Bath with Pump Room Water Tasting

LondonEverything on this itinerary is included, which is what separates it from most Windsor coach days: entry to Windsor Castle, entry to the Roman Baths and the Pump Rooms, and a taste of the spa water while you are in there. The coach leaves at 8am sharp from the meeting point, check-in fifteen minutes before, and reaches Windsor at about 9:30. The castle is the oldest and largest occupied one in the world, with landscaped gardens around it and a round tower above them. The State Apartments hold priceless work by Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci and others; Queen Mary's Dolls' House is on the same visit. So is St George's Chapel, one of the finest gothic buildings in England, where Henry VIII lies beside Jane Seymour and ten sovereigns in all are buried, and where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married. On Sundays the chapel is closed to visitors because services run through the day, from Holy Communion at 08:30 to Evensong at 17:15, and worshippers are welcome at any of them. Stonehenge comes next, and what a guide can give you there is mostly the argument: temple to the sun, healing centre, burial site or calendar, with no settled account of how the stones were carried so far using the tools of the time. Guide books at the site are 25% off for this tour. Bath finishes the day. The route passes Pulteney Bridge, modelled on the Ponte Vecchio, and ends at the Roman Baths, where water from Britain's only hot spring still fills the complex. The tasting happens in the Pump Room, the neo-classical salon above it. Golden Tours has run excursions since 1984 and travel is by luxury air-conditioned coach. Departures run in English, Spanish, Japanese, Mandarin and Korean, and non-English tours may be bilingual.

Windsor Castle
The coach leaves the meeting point at 8am sharp, so check in at least fifteen minutes before. First stop is Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, reached at about 9:30am. Landscaped gardens sweep around it and a round tower stands over them, and it is the King's favourite weekend residence. The State Apartments are hung with priceless work by Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci and many others. St George's Chapel is part of the same visit: former monarchs including Henry VIII are buried there, and it is where Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married.
St. George's Chapel
St George's Chapel stands on the sprawling castle grounds. Henry VIII is buried there with Jane Seymour, his favourite wife, as are Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. The chapel is one of the finest examples of gothic architecture in England. Ten sovereigns are buried in it and many royal weddings have taken place there. It is dedicated to the patron saint of the Order of the Garter, Britain's highest Order of Chivalry. *St George's Chapel is closed to visitors on Sundays, when services are held through the day. Worshippers are welcome to attend. The times are: 08:30 - Holy Communion 10:45 - Mattins and Sermon 11:45 - Sung Eucharist 17:15 - Evensong
Windsor Guildhall
A 17th-century masterpiece on the High Street, 100 metres from Castle Hill. Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, Duchess of Cornwall, at Windsor Guildhall in 2005.
Stonehenge
What this ancient creation actually meant has been lost in the mists of time. A temple for sun worship, a healing centre, a burial site, or a huge calendar?
